Queen (Queenie) Esther Roberts Mitchell was born December 17, 1966 to the late Thomas Roberts, Sr. and Thelma Brown in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the Duval County Public School Systems, graduating from William M. Raines High School. Queenie was employed by I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the homeless, 13 years before she retired in 2010 due to her illness. Queen had a gift to help those in need, that’s why the residents at I.M. Sulzbacher would confide in her while they stayed there during a difficult time in their own lives. They would always have nice stories to tell about how she was good to them during their stay at the center.
